Manchester voted 3rd best city in the world

As far as fame goes, it can hardly be said that Manchester isn’t one of the most instantly recognisable cities in the world.

The city is home to the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Smiths, computers, Coronation Street, the industrial revolution and Alan Turing to name a few.

In addition to its rich heritage, Manchester is one of the most popular location to live in the UK, with Ancoats in the city centre voted as one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Europe last year!

With a vibrant nightlife, booming local businesses and a friendly population, Manchester is fast becoming one of the places that is seeing the largest increases to its population as people move in droves from other areas of the UK, including London.

As a property investor, location is one of the most important aspects of research you can do before buying a buy-to-let property, not to mention an off-plan property.

With that in mind, you’ll be fully aware that any property investment needs to be in a vibrant area with a growing population, a strong local economy and plenty of potential, so where better to find this information than a ranking of the world’s best cities?

Manchester at number 3

The highly anticipated Time Out survey of 27,000 city-dwellers ranks cities by a number of metrics including nightlife, community spirit and friendliness.

Anybody who’s been on the train or the bus around Manchester in comparison to other public transport systems in London and around the world will more than likely appreciate the difference in friendliness exhibited here and other cities.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, “Manchester has just been named the third best city in the world – beaten only by Amsterdam and San Francisco.

We ranked higher than New York City, Tokyo and LA, and well above the next UK city, which was London in 13th place.”

This reflects a remarkable few years for the city, already on the radar around Europe as one of the most exciting and fastest growing areas, already extremely popular with tourists.

Long considered to be on an upward trend, this impressive accolade cements Manchester’s status as one of the most exciting places in the world to live, work and invest.

Property

More broadly, one of the aspects of the city’s remarkable growth has been the rate of house building and new properties being constructed thanks to huge demand from investors and landlords.

That demand is coming from a huge influx of workers following the pandemic thanks in part to remote working, and in part to the significantly lower living costs as opposed to areas such as London.

Those building and selling property in Manchester will no doubt have experienced a huge drive in demand in recent years, and as a result, many are now advising new investors to try and be as quick as possible as, in many instances, stock is selling out.

If you’re an investor that’s been looking at opportunities in off-plan property around Manchester, then the advice is similar – it’s probably time to consider expediting your plans to move things along a little quicker than you may have originally planned.
